Custom Bioarrays
Life MicroFab (LMF), the custom design and fabrication division of LBSI, specializes in working with OEM's and end users to develop bioarrays and micro-devices using the APEX™ Glass-Ceramic material from LBSI.. One major area of focus for LMF is custom and microplexed bioarray systems for OEM's who would like to offer this technology as part of their product portfolio.
Most of our products are developed to fit on a microscope slide form factor, but other substrate dimensions are available. Nanowells, micropillars, microchannels and through-hole vias can all be combined onto one or more slides or substrates to creat a complete microplexed bioarray system.
Typical applications include microarrays, cell based assays, single cell analysis, microfluidic devices, microtiter plate inserts, in-vivo, in-vitro, and other related bioassay platforms and systems.
Other unique capabilities of the APEX™ Glass ceramic material is that we can form regions of glass, ceramic or glass-ceramic hybrid or transition areas on the same substrate. We can also produce hydrophilic and and hydrophobic regions on the same finished part. Most of our finished material is low in auto-fluorescence and can be processed to be optically-transparent to fully-opaque on the same substrate.
